Zeus’ new Tie Layer addresses the serious issue of delamination in catheter construction. This polymer product is applied over the catheter base liner and aids the jacket reflow process during catheter construction. As the jacket is melted and reflowed, the jacket and tie layer flow through the catheter braiding to create a new stronger bond to each other and to the jacket than with just a jacket alone. Zeus’ tie layer increases the liner-to-jacket bond strength by at least 2 1/2× compared to construction without a tie layer. Adding a tie layer to your catheter improves mechanical consistency of your device while minimizing the risks associated with delamination. Tie Layer is also an excellent match for our StreamLiner™ Series of PTFE base liners – the thinnest liners in the industry – allowing you to complete your catheter construction with Zeus.
