New information leaflets on environmental law
The German Medical Technology Association (BVMed) has published further information sheets on environmental legislation. With the sheets on, for example, the Battery Act or the Electrical Equipment Act, the association supports medical technology companies in the implementation of environmental law. The free service provides an overview of the areas of application and obligations arising from currently 14 different laws and ordinances.
According to Managing Director Marc-Pierre Möll, the European Green Deal is a major challenge for the medical technology sector. The association supports the industry on its way to a green restructuring of the economy in Germany and Europe. At the same time, politics must keep a sense of proportion and pay attention to practical regulations for the industry, which is characterised by small and medium-sized enterprises.
Europe is to become the first climate-neutral continent. To this end, the EU Commission is planning about 80 initiatives. Many of them directly or indirectly affect the medical technology industry. As support for the classification of the comprehensive environmental legislation, the association offers a series of information sheets in cooperation with the product law firm. The following topics are new additions:
- Battery Act (BattG)
- Disposable Plastic Labelling Ordinance & Prohibition Ordinance (EWKKennzV & EWKVerbotsV)
- Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)
- Electrical and Electronic Equipment Substances Ordinance (ElektroStoffV)
- Energy Consumption Labelling Ordinance
- F-Gas Ordinance
- Ordinance on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP-VO)
- Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH-VO)
The information sheets cover the following contents:
- Name and promulgation status of the legal act
- Background information (e.g. implementation of European law by national legal acts)
