The piezobrush® is designed as an efficient plasma handheld device that is particularly suitable for use in laboratories, the medical sector and the manual assembly of small series. The Piezoelectric Direct Discharge Technology, or PDD® technology for short, introduces a device class for medical technology and dentistry whose particularly compact plasma generation is predestined for a wide variety of medical and medical-technical applications. The piezobrush PZ2 combines the sterilizing effect of atmospherically generated plasma with a highly efficient increase in surface energy.
This also optimizes the adhesion of lacquers to polypropylene. But also when bonding materials such as glass, GRP, ABS and other plastics with epoxy resin adhesives, the bonding force is increased by pretreatment with the piezobrush® hand tool. Thanks to a very low thermal load, even thermally sensitive materials can be excellently treated.

Functionalize and disinfect PEEK implants. A functionalization of the surfaces by an atmospheric pressure plasma can improve the conditions here. The effect is based on two positive effects of the plasma: On the one hand, any microorganisms present on the surface are destroyed, which contributes to a reduced risk of infection. At the same time, the "finely cleaned" surface increases the body's tolerance to the foreign body implant. The second effect is based on the increase of the surface energy of the plastic - up to the so-called water wettability. As a result, the surface of the implant can be better wetted by the body's own substances such as blood and other fluids, which promotes and accelerates the healing process.
In order to process Teflon (PTFE), for example, a plasma gas with a special composition is used. For example, small catheters coated inside with Teflon have been successfully processed. An improvement of over 300% could be achieved!
In order to provide products having convincingly compact dimensions, we developed the PDD® Technology. PDD stands for Piezoelectric Direct Discharge. It is based on the direct, electric discharge at an openly operated piezoelectric transformer (PT).
By means of PDD® Technology, low input voltage is transformed. This results in high electric field strengths. The ambient process gas – typically air – is dissociated and ionized.
The advantages of the direct discharge control are obvious: The excitation of gas molecules is highly efficient and safe. Furthermore, the power density of the compact device is extremely high. In practice, a processing performance level is now achieved that had previously been possible only by means of considerably larger installations.
