B. Braun invests 60 million euros in production expansion
B. Braun is once again expanding its production in Melsungen in northern Hesse. The international medical technology company is investing more than 60 million euros in a state-of-the-art production facility for dialysis machines and infusion pumps as well as in automated production logistics. Completion of the construction project is planned for 2025.
"We are very pleased to be able to demonstrate once again with today's ground-breaking ceremony that we firmly believe in the Melsungen location and are continuously investing in its attractiveness and future viability. The expansion of production with a special focus on the latest technologies and sustainability secures growth prospects and strengthens the competitiveness of the company and the region," said the company's CEO Anna Maria Braun at the groundbreaking ceremony on 20 June. The expansion also has an effect far beyond the borders of Melsungen, as the company is making a contribution to the sovereignty of the German and European health care systems here and is taking on responsibility.
Overall, the production area at Plant W on the Buschberg is being expanded by around 50 percent. The production expansion had become necessary due to increased unit numbers and an expansion of the product portfolio.
