The sophisticated optical surgical navigation system measures the position and orientation of the patient and the instruments through infrared light which is reflected from our patented and unique glass reflectors mounted on the instruments. This measurement allows a high precision measurement and real-time representation of the instruments relative to the patient in preoperative medical images. The optical navigation system has the advantage that active instruments such as milling machines, RF knives can be navigated without any loss of accuracy and no wiring of the instruments is needed. Thereby and in addition with the highly developed user guidance system, the optical navigation system provides reliable support for surgeons during ENT (Ear- Nose- and Throat) and neurosurgical procedures. The optical navigation system also can be combined with any equipment trolley or endoscopy tower and can be connected to the clinic network for data exchange (e. g. DICOM data). So the system can be integrated easily into any operating room. Special feature: All instruments are designed autoclavable and reusable whereby special costs and extra waste of single-use instruments are omitted.
