Nijdra Group Enables Breakthrough in Tremor Relief with STIL Orthese

Nijdra Group manufactures the STIL Orthese: a lightweight, non-electronic wearable that suppresses hand tremors while preserving natural movement. Precision manufacturing turning innovation into patient relief.

Nijdra Group BV
Middenbeemster, Netherlands

At Nijdra Group, we take pride in turning innovative medical ideas into reliable, high-quality products. A prime example is our close collaboration with STIL on the STIL Orthese: a lightweight, non-electronic wearable that effectively suppresses hand tremors in patients with Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor, while fully preserving natural movement.

The concept was conceived in 2014 by STIL founder IJsbrand de Lange, who drew inspiration from noise-cancelling technology to create a purely mechanical solution using specially developed rotary dampers. After extensive patient feedback and a major redesign in 2020, the orthosis launched in June 2023. It features intuitive magnetic closures and delivers immediate tremor reduction, helping users regain control over daily activities such as drinking or writing.

Hundreds of satisfied users in the Netherlands already benefit from the device. International expansion is well underway through partnerships with specialized orthopedic distributors in Germany, Belgium, and Italy. A published clinical study supports its efficacy and is helping advance reimbursement, particularly in Germany.

Nijdra Group: Precision Manufacturing Partner from the Start

The production partnership with STIL has deep roots. IJsbrand de Lange completed an internship at Nijdra around 2010 and remembered our precision capabilities and no-nonsense approach. When STIL needed a manufacturing partner capable of meeting stringent medical-device requirements, they turned to us.

“Nijdra excels in traceability and quality assurance, essential for medical products,” says de Lange. “Every component must be fully traceable. Their engineers collaborate closely with our team on design-for-manufacturability improvements and process optimization.”

At Nijdra Group we deliver exactly that: micron-level precision machining, full traceability, robust quality systems (ISO 13485), and co-engineering support. This enables STIL to scale production efficiently while complying with European regulations — and preparing for future U.S. market entry. Our involvement goes beyond manufacturing: we help refine the product for reliable, repeatable quality and easier assembly.

This strategic partnership allows STIL to focus on clinical validation, market growth, and new product development, while we ensure the orthosis meets the highest standards patients and regulators demand.

STIL is now preparing a public investment round to fuel further international expansion and innovation.

For the medtech industry, the STIL Orthese demonstrates how early supplier involvement and expert precision manufacturing can accelerate the path from promising idea to real patient impact.

Nijdra Group will exhibit at MedtecLIVE 2026 (5–7 May, Stuttgart, Hall 3, Stand 3-610). Visit us to discuss how our precision manufacturing and co-engineering expertise can support your next medical device project, just as we do for innovative solutions like the STIL Orthese.
