Innovative Micropump Revolutionizes Drug Delivery

Our self-sensing piezoelectric micropump with innovative bubble detection improves dosing accuracy and increases patient safety in medication delivery.

Our innovative piezoelectric micropump, developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute EMFT, uses a new method of flow monitoring based on self-sensing. This technology enables the micropump to accurately monitor flow without external sensors and detect gas bubbles to correct dosing errors. This opens up a wide range of applications for drug delivery, especially for high-dose drugs such as insulin. Our research is helping to improve the accuracy and safety of drug delivery.
