Safety first – Developing safe medical robots

With the increasing use of robotic systems in medicine, safety responsibilities are also growing. Malfunctioning can have serious consequences for patients. Accordingly, it is an enormous challenge to ensure functional safety and uninterrupted operation despite high system complexity and sophisticated software. Special attention must be devoted to securing the software as the central control component. The presentation provides a brief overview of development challenges and presents proven solutions for early detection and mitigation of software risks.
