MedtecLIVE with T4M grows: Spring highlight of the medtech industry strengthens position as central trade fair in Europe
"The significant increase in visitor numbers shows that the many offers for information, discussion and networking along the entire value chain of medical technology have been excellently received," says Christopher Boss, Executive Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse.
"Personal exchange and sustainable business contacts remain important for our exhibitors and visitors,” Boss sums up positively. 397 exhibitors from 27 countries and an extensive accompanying programme ranging from IndustrialSUMMIT to the production line attracted the medtech industry to Nuremberg from 23 to 25 May 2023. “We have clearly consolidated our position as the central trade fair for the production of medical technology,” says Boss.
With around 4,000 visitors from 46 countries, MedtecLIVE with T4M has grown strongly compared to the previous year: "The significant increase in visitor numbers shows that the many offers for information, discussion and networking along the entire value chain of medical technology have been excellently received. Personal exchange and sustainable business contacts remain important for our exhibitors and visitors," Christopher Boss, Executive Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse, draws a positive balance. 397 exhibitors from 27 countries and an extensive accompanying programme from IndustrialSUMMIT to the production line attracted the medtech industry to Nürnberg from 23-25 May 2023. "We have clearly consolidated our position as the central trade fair for the production of medical technology," says Boss.
The European orientation - not least due to the partner country Ireland - and the representation of the entire value chain in the medical technology industry have made the trade fair an exceptional meeting place again in 2023 - with information exchange and knowledge gain at the centre. To this end, the focus with many offerings and exhibitors was on the current top topics of the industry, including regulation, circular economy, transformation, new manufacturing processes as well as IT and software.
"Figures and impression go together"
Organisers, exhibitors and visitors draw a positive picture after the three days. "Three days of networking and knowledge exchange with renowned international experts, all focusing on the most important innovations and trends in medical technology - this is an investment in the medicine of tomorrow," says Dr. Jörg Traub, Managing Director of Forum Medtech Pharma and organiser of the accompanying MedtecSUMMIT, summing up what he considers the most important medical technology event in spring 2023. The MedtecSUMMIT Congress & Partnering was another visitor magnet in the halls.
Even at the end of the first day of the trade fair, the assessment of Fabian Lehmeier, Sector Development Manager Medical Technology at Schaeffler, was positive: "We had customers with us, potential leads and students who were interested in the company. Even for the first day, we are very satisfied with our stand here." And looking back on the three days, this impression also holds true: "We are satisfied with how the fair went. We met customers and partners. The fair is a good medium for making contact with the medical technology ecosystem," is the conclusion of Tim Melchior, Sales Manager Medical Devices, at exhibitor Siemens Digital Industry Software.
And visitors were also quickly won over by the wide range of offerings: "My goal today is to find out about new trends, products and innovations, and I'm also looking forward to exchanging ideas with the exhibitors and visitors at the fair. The personal contact from person to person is simply something great. You can learn a lot that way. I like it, the two exhibition halls have filled up quickly. I find it very lively, I'm positively taken with it and I find it very interesting," says Wolfgang Bier, Global Key Account Manager Medical, at Henkel AG & Co. KgaA. Christian Riehl, Sales Accountant Manager, Eclipse Automation, is also a visitor at MedtecLIVE with T4M: "We have the automotive, industrial, but also medical sectors. We are partners in the field of automation, which means that the customers here need us when product volumes increase and automation solutions are then in demand. The fair is well attended and I have already had a number of successful discussions."
"The feedback from visitors and exhibitors matches the numbers: We have increased in quality and quantity. That was our goal. And we have achieved it," says Christopher Boss.
Networking and promotion for innovations
MedtecLIVE with T4M offered many opportunities for start-ups: the three start-ups Dymium, ProCarement and Acorai shared prize money totalling 15,000 euros offered by EIT Health. The Start-up Area offered 35 young companies plenty of space to network and present themselves to potential customers. The offer of a presentation area plus pitch competition worked well, reports Florian Ebel, Co-Founder & Business Lead at Dymium GmbH: "We are at MedtecLIVE as a start-up because we want to use the opportunity to gain visibility in the start-up scene and the medical technology scene. Yesterday we were allowed to pitch at the start-up contest and won first prize. This is a super opportunity for us to show our technology, establish partnerships and find other suppliers. We'll take that with us and then go into the next development phase of our start-up with momentum." Carmen Rommel, COO BIOVOX GmbH from Darmstadt adds: "We want to get into dialogue, want to be visible and network. This start-up area is very good, especially that you have a little space around your own stand to get into good conversation."
Medical technology production from start to finish
The production line proved to be an extraordinary visitor highlight and a real attraction at MedtecLIVE with T4M again this year: in live operation, visitors were able to experience the creation process of a medical product step by step from raw material to blister packaging. The guided tours of the production line were also very popular and consistently well attended.
Strengthening sustainable networks
The numerous large joint stands, including those of the VDMA, VDWF and the medtech regions Swiss Medtech, MedicalMountains, Bayern Innovativ and Brainport Industries from the Netherlands, were also well attended. They enabled an intensive exchange for networking among the participants and within the industry and offered visitors a good overview of the wide variety of the individual networks and regions.
