Just one partner for a complete Medtec Project – from the part development through to the receipt of the sterilized product? Customers of KH Medical appreciate and use this all-in-one service. While it is usually necessary to co-ordinate the toolmaking, the injection molding, the assembly in clean room plus the packaging, here everything is available from one single source. With our own Medtec production processes and mass production expertise from other branches. A one-stop shop, so to say – with ISO 13485 certification.

The example process of a single-use endoscope, of which, meanwhile, 150 000 pieces are delivered, would be:

  • Engineering: For the single-use endoscope, KH Medical went deep into the development of product and process – for a good 15 months.

  • The results: Four article variants for urology, ENT and anesthetics with articulations of the camera tubing up to 270 degrees.

  • Construction / Tooling: Around 60 plastic parts require tools – in microinjection molding as well, with 0,004 gramm article weight (see KH Innovation No. 40). They are produced in the KH tool shop under Medtec guidelines and in a separate area.

  •  Production: The own Medtec injection molding plant (see KH Innovation No. 38) was enhanced with top-class microinjection molding machines from Battenfeld.

  •  Assembly: On an area totaling 500 m2 class 8 clean room, 70 skillful employees (100 by the end of the year) assemble the complex endoscopes including the filigree articulation.

  • Further processing: In the final packaging for the customer, the single-use articles are sent for sterilizing and are then ready for use in the practice and surgery.
