FEP is often chosen in lieu of PTFE for its lower cost but still possesses nearly all of the preferred properties of PTFE. In this regard, FEP heat shrink also has a significantly lower recovery temperature making it especially preferred for components that cannot tolerate the temperature extremes of PTFE. Now FEP heat shrink is available with an even greater heat shrink ratio of 2:1. This new larger ratio eliminates the manual stretching normally performed by end users employing smaller shrink ratio products. FEP 2:1 presents a new option for fusing sleeves and manufacturing aids during catheter construction. This low-cost product is biocompatible, sterilizable, and optically clear to allow you to easily inspect your catheter construction during the reflow process. FEP’s chemical resistance means that it will not bond to your other catheter materials. Once removed FEP 2:1 fusing sleeve leaves a smooth catheter shaft surface.
